What is a same-day crown?

A crown is a cap that covers and protects a damaged tooth. With CEREC technology, we design and make your ceramic crown right here in our office. In most cases, that means one visit instead of two, with no temporary crown in between.

Who is it for?

A crown may be recommended for a tooth that is cracked, broken, worn down, weakened by a large filling, or treated with a root canal. Some cases still need a crown made by an outside lab, and we'll let you know if that applies to you.

What to expect

Preparing the tooth: We numb the area and shape the tooth so the crown fits securely.
Digital scan: Instead of impression trays, we take a quick 3D scan of your tooth.
Designing and making your crown: Your crown is designed on screen and milled from a solid block of ceramic in our office while you relax.
Fitting: We check the fit and your bite, make any adjustments, and bond the crown in place.

How long is the visit?

Plan for one appointment of about 3 hours from start to finish. While you wait, enjoy our comfort menu: warm blankets, headphones, tea and more.
